Target Audience


AHEPP Annual 2017 has been designed to meet the educational needs of Administrators, Emergency Preparedness Coordinators, Emergency Managers, RN’s, and all staff responsible for disaster preparedness at:

  • Inpatient acute care facilities
  • Outpatient clinical services
  • Residential/long term care facilities
  • Home care facilities
  • Public health departments
  • Preparedness coalitions
  • Academia
  • Large and small hospitals


Educational Objectives


After completing AHEPP Annual 2017, the participant should be better able to:

  • Identify current priority areas in healthcare emergency preparedness
  • Describe emerging practices and theories that can be applied to improve healthcare emergency preparedness within various healthcare settings
  • Access key resources and tools that will enhance or sustain professional work or volunteer role in planning for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies within healthcare settings
  • Identify collaboration opportunities to enhance healthcare emergency preparedness
  • Identify opportunities to engage with national stakeholders on Federal guidance and policy issues that impact healthcare emergency preparedness
  • Outline next steps for providers in developing and advancing their current disaster plans

Physician Continuing Medical Education

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Postgraduate Institute for Medicine and AHEPP. The Postgraduate Institute for Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Postgraduate Institute for Medicine is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
