CMS Emergency Preparedness Updates 2019

This webinar will cover the recent updates to the CMS EP rule, including the new emerging infectious diseases requirement.  We will also review which EP requirements have had the most citations and survey tags, and discuss ways of strengthening those areas.

Rachel Lookadoo, J.D.

Rachel Lookadoo is the Director of Legal and Public Health Preparedness for the Center for Preparedness Education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  In that role, Ms. Lookadoo conducts emergency preparedness trainings and assessments for public health departments and healthcare facilities. She specializes in assisting healthcare facilities in implementing the CMS emergency preparedness regulations.  Prior to joining the Center for Preparedness Education in 2018, Ms. Lookadoo worked in regulatory compliance for a long term care and PACE provider.

An attorney by background, Ms. Lookadoo has written book chapters and legal guides regarding topics such as isolation and quarantine law and other legal concerns that arise in disaster response and recovery. Ms. Lookadoo received her Juris Doctor degree from American University Washington College of Law, and her Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University.
