EMP 101 will provide an introduction to the framework for an individual to take on the role of a healthcare emergency preparedness professional at any type of healthcare facility.  We will emphasize that emergency management is an all encompassing system of principles, policies procedures, methods and activities designed to ensure the organization’s effective response to natural or man-made disasters.

 

Additionally, EMP 101 will address the importance of building a comprehensive, all hazards programs based on the five tenets of emergency management: Planning, Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery, all of which play critical roles in controlling the clinical and business operations of the facility during a disaster.

 

Today we’ll cover the process of Emergency Management, what a healthcare EMP Coordinator is, what a healthcare EMP Coordinator does, and where to start if you’re a beginner, or, serve as a refresher if you’ve been doing this for a while.

 

We will provide a series of webinars this spring covering topics and issues valuable to you in the role of EMP Coordinator.  Future content will address Emergency Plan Content, Guidelines and Regulations, Hazard Vulnerability
